A Victory for Inclusion: Gombak’s OKU Students Shine at the Selangor ICT Challenge
At AMEER SAFONE Ventures (ASV), we believe that real change begins when opportunity meets belief. And on this remarkable day, that belief came to life through the inspiring journey of eight outstanding OKU students, primary and secondary schools from Gombak district.
These young minds—each facing unique challenges including physical, visual, hearing, autism, and learning disabilities—stood tall as they emerged champions at the Selangor ICT Challenge 2025. Their ideas were nothing short of brilliant: tech-driven solutions ranging from Internet of Things (IoT) innovations to smart car prototypes and digital programming concepts that wowed both the judges and audience alike.
Their success is not only a victory in a competition—it’s a powerful statement. It proves that when Persons with Disabilities (PWD) are given the right tools, support, and encouragement, they can thrive beyond expectations. They can innovate, compete, and lead. They can inspire change.
We at ASV are incredibly proud to have sponsored this remarkable contingent as part of our ongoing mission to champion inclusivity and empower future-ready OKU youth. As the founder of ASV and someone who understands firsthand the journey of overcoming physical limitations, this win holds deep personal meaning. It affirms our purpose: to build platforms that empower, not isolate.
Next Stop: Kuantan & Korea
The journey doesn’t end here. These students will soon represent Selangor at the National Level in Kuantan, and subsequently on the international stage in Korea. This leap from local to global is a proud moment not only for the students, but for Malaysia as a whole.
Behind every great achievement is a network of silent heroes. To the coaches, teachers, and parents who have guided these students with patience, compassion, and unwavering belief—we offer our heartfelt gratitude. Your dedication has lit a path that others will now follow.
During the event, we also had the honour of connecting with YB Daniel, Selangor State Assemblyman and Chairman of the Majlis Tindakan OKU Selangor (MTOS). His leadership and support for OKU empowerment sends a clear message: inclusive development is no longer optional—it is essential.
Why This Moment Matters
This event is more than a headline—it’s a wake-up call. It challenges us to reflect on the systems, mindsets, and environments we build. Are they truly inclusive? Are we doing enough to prepare the next generation of OKU to embrace the real world with confidence and dignity?
At AMEER SAFONE Inclusivity Academy (ASIA)—an initiative under ASV—we’re laying the groundwork to answer this call. Through training, awareness, and advocacy, we aim to create a society where no one is left behind, and where every young OKU has a fair shot at building their future.
Let this moment be a reminder: Never underestimate what PWD can achieve when the world doesn’t give up on them. They don’t need sympathy—they need support, access, and belief.
We are proud of these students, proud of their mentors, and proud to be part of their journey. This is just the beginning.
